Areas of expertises
- Phye Keat has been practising law since March 1987. He first began practice in the area of conveyancing and real estate law and banking and corporate finance. He later developed the intellectual property division of Raja, Darryl & Loh and saw the division grow into one of the leading intellectual property law practices in Malaysia.
- For the past few years, Phye Keat has been focussed on and practised corporate, commercial, ICT(Information and Communications Technology) laws and intellectual property.
- Phye Keat has handled a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial transactions including joint ventures, manufacturing, telecommunications, computer contracts and information technology, licensing, franchising, foreign investment, immigration, sale of goods, construction, privatisation, infrastructure (including the first light rail transit project in Malaysia, STAR) and labour/employment.
- In the ICT field, Phye Keat has done some considerable work in this area, in particular certain MSC flagship applications including the Government multipurpose smart card and the smart school projects. Phye Keat has also handled a number of mobile related matters including mobile content agreements and licensing of software relating to mobile banking.
- Currently, Phye Keat is focusing on intellectual property and competition law. This portfolio will also include laws on personal data protection. He was also part of the consultation group interacting with the Government on the drafting of the Competition Bill.
- Phye Keat has been nominated by AsiaLaw & Practice as one of the AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers (2007) in the field of Intellectual Property.
