Indonesia :
The Indonesian government has taken serious steps to protect intellectual property rights in the recent past.
For example a new Copyright Law was enacted on July 29 2002 and came into force on 29 July 2003.
The new law e.g. provides protection of compilation date, a copyright owner of cinematography and computer programs now has the right to grant approval or prohibit others from renting his work for commercial purpose, it provides protection for electronic information and technology control facilities, the settlement of copyright disputes can now be adjudicated by the Commercial Court or through arbitration or alternative dispute resolutions and harsher criminal sanctions were imposed for copyright infringement under the new Copyright Law.

Beside this latest measure to enforce the protection of intellectual property rights a number of other amendments and new provisions have been introduced to the new Patent Law (Law No. 14 of 2001) and to the Trademark Law (Law No. 15 of 2001) which are already taken into account in above.
