Mr. Thein Aung obtained the Bachelor of Science (Physics) from Yangon Arts and Science University in 1977, and in 1983, he passed the post-graduate course of the Registered Lawyer (Enrolled at 1983 as Higher Grade Pleader and Barred at 1998 as Advocate).

He served under the Attorney-General’s Office as a Law Officer (1983-1991) and took further study on the nature of laws and practices of Singapore under Y.M.Ho & Partners, Singapore law firm from 1993 to 1994. In 1995, he professionally entered the field of Intellectual Property protection and promotion in Myanmar as well as legal consultative services for commercial transaction at home and abroad, conveyancing, litigation and real estate.

In 2000, he passed with credit the post-graduate course of Diploma in Business Law from Yangon University; and also held Practice Diplomas in International Business Organizations and International Intellectual Property Law from the College of Law [U.K].

Currently, Mr. Thein Aung is:

President of APAA Myanmar Group;
Councilor of ASEAN Intellectual Property Association (ASEAN IPA);
member of AIPPI, INTA, and IPBA whereas takes responsibility for Myanmar Trademark and Patent Law Firm as the Senior Associate;
and also in the pen name of KAUNG PYAIT AUNG, he is a freelance writer of the articles which enhance public awareness for Intellectual Property Rights in Myanmar.
