In order to boost investments in the country, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) last August 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the PEZA Building, Roxas Boulevard corner San Luis Street, Pasay City.
Under the agreement, IPOPHL and PEZA will promote the use of intellectual property (IP) among ecozone locators and facilitate IP registration in the special zones.
“IP is a strategic tool that we should seek to protect and commercialize,” according to Atty. Ricardo R. Blancaflor, Director General of the IPOPHL. “IP is an intangible asset that can be capitalized on. Registering and protecting IP is in keeping with PEZA’s goal to increase investments inside the country’s 239 operating economic zones.
